A VOLUNTEER centre is calling for more drivers to take elderly clients to their medical appointments.

Della Jeffery from Swanley and District Centre in London Road, says that over the past few weeks the centre has had a high influx of new clients.

Mrs Jeffery said: “We try to help as many as possible but on some occasions have had to say that we cannot help them due to lack of drivers.

“Some of our drivers have been doing two drives in one day.

“If anyone can spare a few hours per week, we could serve more of these people that need our help.

“The clients pay the driver 40p per mile.”

The centre is an independent charity that runs voluntary services for people in north Kent.

Volunteer drivers in the area will cover Crockenhill, Farningham, Eynsford, West Kingsdown, Hartley and Fawkham, New Ash Green, South Darenth, Horton Kirby, Hextable and Swanley.

Anyone interested in helping out should call 01322 669 292 or 0845 241 2180.
