MEMBERS enjoyed a very entertaining meeting in January when Michael Carrigan, a fingerprint expert from Scotland Yard described his pre-retirement job in Swaziland.
His slides showed us the varying landscapes and reinforced his obvious love of the country.
His informal manner kept us interested and told us much about a country where wealth is determined by how many cattle you own.
We still do not know why Swaziland is surrounded by a 14ft fence.
The meeting was followed by a picture quiz and there was some discussion as to how we will celebrate 60 years as an institution.
Our next meeting is on February 10 at the Memorial Hall, Lewis Road, at 7.30pm.
A talk will be given by Margaret Phillips on The Fascinating Challenge Of Leprosy.
Visitors are most welcome.
