A PUBLIC meeting was held last night into the amalgamation of Tubbenden infant and junior schools.

It was part of the public consultation into the plans to form one primary school which ends on February 13.

The two schools are currently run as a ‘federation’ meaning they are managed by the same governing body and they have the same headteacher.

The schools are situated on the same site in Sandy Bury, Orpington but currently pupils must apply to move up from the infant school to the junior school.

Under the new proposals put forward by Bromley Council, a single primary school would put an end to this and would cut down on the doubling up of administration- for example managing two budgets.

The headteacher, Michael Youlton, said he believes there will be little difference to the day-to-day experiences of the pupils and there will be no changes in staff.

He said: “This is like a primary school for the time your child is here, but administratively we are two schools.

“This will make things clearer.”
