THIS weekend a school in Welling will receive a makeover – thanks to the generosity of one man and News Shopper’s Kindness Club.

East Wickham Junior School will be the location for the first kind act to be done in honour of our fantastic new community rewards scheme.

Steve Gibbs runs a property services firm based in Deptford Bridge.

He got in touch with News Shopper when he saw details of the Kindness Club, which provides rewards for people who do good deeds.

Steve wanted to offer members a 10 per cent discount off the cost of painting, decorating or cleaning work carried out by his company, Steven Gibbs Property Services.

But he also wanted to go further than that.

Steve had an idea for putting his skills to good use by painting and decorating a deserving local venue.

After speaking to colleagues and friends, Steve chose his old school for the project.

He has spent the past few weeks making arrangements, getting materials and assembling a crack team of volunteers.

On Saturday and Sunday the school’s swimming pool and changing rooms will be decorated, along with two teaching rooms and the special education building.

When the deed is done, Steve and his team of helpers will earn themselves membership of the Kindness Club.

We salute Steve’s kindness and hope his good deed is an inspiration to others.

If you want to join the Kindness Club and gain access to the growing list of rewards on offer, all you have to do is do something nice.

Do a favour for someone, do something fun and silly that puts a smile on people’s faces, put yourself out to do something helpful – see how easy it is to get involved

We also want more businesses to get involved so if you can offer a small reward to people who do good deeds contact web manager Simon Bull by email or call 01689 885713.
