TWO men who robbed their friend have been given jail sentences totalling 12 years.

David Marino, aged 27, of Ordnance Road, Greenwich, and Danny Brady, aged 24, of Marvels Lane, Lewisham, were sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court.

The pair knew their 57-year-old friend was frail and vulnerable, and decided to enter his Woolwich flat through an open window on January 26 last year.

Brady and Marino asked the victim for money. When he refused to co-operate, they attacked him with a chair and a broom, leaving him with a punctured lung and broken ribs as well as severe bruising and abrasions to his head, face and body.

While the victim was on the floor, they stole money and an Oyster card.

Before leaving, they threatened the man and told him not to call for help.

Marino was given a seven-year sentence and Brady received a five-year sentence.

Brady had pleaded guilty to robbery on June 9 and Marino was later found guilty of robbery on November 12.

Officer in the case, PC Jordan Gardner, from Greenwich robbery squad, said: “Brady and Marino betrayed their friend and subjected him to a horrific ordeal. “
