A HOLOCAUST survivor has visited a school to talk to pupils about her experiences in a concentration camp.
Joanna Millan spoke to 160 girls in Year 9 to 13 at Farringtons School in Perry Street, Chislehurst, as part of their history course.
Ms Millan, born Bela Rosenthal in Berlin, was orphaned while imprisoned for two years in Theresienstadt, a concentration camp 50 miles outside Prague.
In 1945 she was flown to England where she was adopted by a wealthy Jewish couple in London.
They decided it would be better for her to have a less German-sounding name, and so her name was changed.
The school’s history teacher, Jim Attridge, said: “Everyone who listened to the presentation was deeply moved by Joanna’s story and have surely learned a lot from the experience.”
