A THEATRE company will work in partnership with a council to take over the running of a theatre.
Specialist theatre company HQ Theatres will take control of the management of The Orchard Theatre in Home Gardens, Dartford after winning through a competitive tender process launched at the end of last year.
The decision to appoint HQ Theatres was announced at a council cabinet meeting on Thursday (JANUARY 22).
Councillor Jeremy Kite, Dartford council leader says that the size, stability and reputation of the company will help the theatre attract bigger touring shows and a wider range of events.
He said: “The theatre will benefit from new investment in front-of-house facilities for theatre-goers, as well as an enhanced artistic programme and summer programme for children.”
Michael Ockwell, managing director of HQ Theatres, said: “HQ Theatres brings a wealth of venue management, large-scale production experience and commercial expertise to The Orchard Theatre.
“Combined with the skills of the team already in place we are looking forward to taking the theatre into an exciting new future.”
