A 32-YEAR-OLD man has been found guilty of murdering Faridon Alizada on an Erith housing estate.

Lee James, formerly of Sutherland Road, Erith, was convicted at Southwark Crown Court today (December 19).

Eighteen-year-old Faridon, from Woolwich, was stabbed to death in Verona House on the Larner Road estate on January 5.

He had been inside a flat with two 16-year-old friends when James came in at 3am claiming to want to buy drugs.

James attacked them with a knife and Faridon died at the scene from the injuries he suffered.

A post-mortem examination later revealed he suffered two stab wounds more than 6in deep to his chest. Either of them would have been fatal.

The other was stabbed in his right shoulder and hand.

James had pleaded guilty to wounding the two 16-year-olds. He denied murdering Faridon but was found guilty by a jury.

He will be sentenced at Southwark Crown Court on December 22.

Investigating officer Acting Detective Chief Inspector Phil Rickells, from the Met Police's homicide and serious crime command team, said: "Lee James is a man with a violent history. He went to Verona House that night to buy drugs to feed his addiction.

"While there he carried out an unprovoked attack which could easily have resulted in the death of all three boys.

"As a result of James's actions Faridon Alizada lost his life, and my thoughts remain with his family and loved ones.”

Michael Harwood, aged 33, of Willowcroft, Lee Park, Blackheath, was found not guilty of murder.
