Tis the season to be jolly.’ We have all heard this in the last few weeks. Shops playing music loud enough so even your Nan can hear it. But are we listening to the music; are we getting in the Christmas mood or are we busy shopping and queuing for hours because we have left things late or not willing to get involved in are true traditions?

So are we losing sight of a true Christmas? I for one realised last year that I had not spent my Christmas in the traditional way that I normally do. I completely forgot about taking my sister to see Santa and go ice-skating. These trivial things really do set the Christmas spirit off and lets us take time to have a fun packed and exciting Christmas without having to stay in and wrap hundreds of presents, as what was my main focus.

I really missed not getting involved in the ‘traditional’ Christmas. But this year I have decided to take the family to see Cinderella in the Churchill Theatre, go to my schools excellent carol concert and make sure that I watch the Queens speech. As we do not realise our traditions are slowly fading and we are not getting involved in these events. However, we can change that this year and celebrate a fun-packed exciting Christmas without stressing about the mince pies running out of stock.

In conclusion, I shall leave you with this joke as I am sure it will keep the Christmas spirit up. What did the big candle say to the little candle?... I'm going out tonight!

Have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
