How a Christmas Dessert Should End Up With You Getting Your Just Desserts: Why I Believe Mince Pies Should Land You a Prison Sentence.

“Currant affairs” indeed. A law made by Oliver Cromwell in 1657 stated that it was illegal to eat mince pies on 25th December; the law has never been repealed. So, bizarre as it seems, in a society that was planning to make cannabis a legal drug, it is still illegal to eat these harmless desserts on Christmas day. However, the law was legitimately created and therefore I believe it should be obeyed. What kind of example is the government trying to set by letting people break this law without punishment? With people so easily being able to avert their punishments it won’t be long before people will expect to get off the hook for more serious crimes such as rape and murder, because that hasn’t happened already. You may be thinking that such an incongruous and ridiculous law should not be taken seriously and I am sensationalizing matters, but if other seemingly strange and outdated laws were not enforced it could also lead to chaos. A law is in force making it illegal for any boy under the age of ten to see a naked mannequin. I believe that due to this law not being taken seriously and young males being able to see such a sexually explicit object at such a young age, it may have led to the increased number of rape cases in recent years. It is also illegal to hang a bed out of your window whose enforcement stops us being hit on the head frequently, the only downside being for those who sell pain killers in chemists. So save Santa Claus some trouble this Christmas, and probably a heart attack, don’t leave him mince pies as a thank you for delivering your presents in case he is forced to spend the night in a holding cell.
