CHILDREN and young people’s services in the borough have been awarded a good rating across the board in the latest round of Ofsted inspections.

The education watchdog’s report highlighted significant progress over the last year in improving the lives of children and young people in the borough.

Inspectors also recognised that educational attainment in schools continues to be above the national figures.

Bromley Council’s portfolio holder for children and young people Councillor Ernest Noad said: “This is a great recognition of the efforts of our staff both in the council and our schools, who provide invaluable support for youngsters.

“I am particularly delighted that the inspectors have recognised the real improvements we are making for vulnerable young people.”

Ofsted awards a rating from one to four and this year the council’s services were awarded a grade three rating in all seven inspection categories.

After last year's inspection, the local authority was awarded grade two ratings in five categories.
