With Christmas fast approaching, I thought it time to broach the subject of memorable Christmas presents, and I’m interested to know what you consider your most memorable Christmas present to have been and why.

Was it something that meant a lot to you, was it the person who gave the present to you or was it something so unexpected that made the present so memorable for you?

Of course, it could have been the fact that it was something so inappropriate or far out that made the present particularly memorable! Which brings me nicely onto my choice……………….

I received this gift about 9 years ago, from my brother no less and, to make matters worse, I opened the gift in front of a number of people, including my aged mother. After battling my way through a copious amount of festive wrapping paper, I tore away the final piece to reveal………….a set of ‘Jumbo Thai Love Beads’!

Speechless didn’t enter into it, although luckily my dear elderly Mother glanced at it and mused that it was rather peculiar to buy one’s brother “a tacky looking necklace”!

The story has a happy ending though, as the beads were a great source of amusement throughout the day, culminating in the dog running around the house with them hanging from her mouth, with my Father noting that it was very kind that someone had even remembered to buy the dog a present!

Top that!
