PETUNIA-potty children won a BBC national horticultural competition.
Youngsters in Year 3 from Istead Rise Primary School, Downs Road, Northfleet, competed in the BBC Gardeners’ World Live competition.
Plants tended by children from across Kent were judged on their growth and appearance and each school had three winners. All three victors in the petunia growing section were from Istead Rise School. James Charlton, Ella Dolphin and Zahrah Ahmad, all aged eight, were from the same class.
Teacher Sue Elder said: “All the children worked very hard and I am very pleased for James, Ella and Zahrah who are now the class petunia experts.”
