The Americans were at war again during the weekend but this time it was all done in the name of fun.
As part of its 35th anniversary celebrations, Southern Skirmish Association (SOSKAN) staged a re-enactment of the American Civil War, when the Yankees took on the Confederates in fiercesome battle.
The venue was the grounds of an English Tudor house — Hall Place, in Bourne Road, Bexley.
Hall Place has its own American connections — US soldiers were billeted there during the Second World War.
Crowds flocked to the free event, which took place over the weekend and SOSKAN set up army encampments where visitors could see how the soldiers, often accompanied by their families, lived from day to day.
Those with the stomach for it watched the army “surgeon” deal with injured soldiers.
