DEDICATED lollipop men and women have been thanked for their hard work in helping youngsters to cross the road safely.
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of school crossing patrols, all staff were invited to Lewisham Town Hall for lunch and presented with commemorative gold badges.
Since the creation of the service, dedicated people have helped thousands of Lewisham youngsters to cross roads across the borough.
Rose Axcell, who has been patrolling outside Marvels Lane School, in Grove Park, since 1987, said: “I love the job, it’s good to know you are doing something so worthwhile. The main quality you need to have is simply to like working with children.” If you enjoy working outdoors, there are currently several vacancies in the Lewisham area.
