A SECONDARY school which gained high ratings in league tables has added to its achievements with a glowing Ofsted report.
The report described Prendergast Secondary School, in Adelaide Avenue, Lewisham, as “very good with some outstanding features”.
The school’s assessment procedures for monitoring students’ academic progress, the provision for students’ social development and the relationship between teachers and students were all described in the report as “excellent”.
Earlier this year, Prendergast was placed 23rd nationally in value-added tables which describe the progress made by pupils by the age of 16. And, for the third consecutive year, it was awarded the prestigious School Achievement Award.
Headteacher Erica Pienaar said: “We are really delighted. The inspectors’ wholehearted praise of the students was encapsulated in their comments that students leave Prendergast as confident, articulate and ambitious young women.” Councillor Katy Donnelly, cabinet member for lifelong learning, said: We are delighted with the report on Prendergast, but not surprised given the hard work of the headteacher, governors staff, parents and students alike.”
