MIKE Whatford really was on a wing and a prayer when he decided to reach for the skies for charity.
Surveyor Mike, of Calford-Seadon in Orpington, was given the ride of his life by the Utterly Butterly wingwalking team.
For five minutes he was flown around the airfield to the wild cheers of friends and family.
Having raised thousands of pounds for the Phoenix Centre for youngsters with learning difficulties in Bromley, he said the flight of fear was well worth it.
Pictured here with Emily London, whose dad Nigel donated money to the charity so she could fly in a helicopter, Mike said: "It was exhilarating, it really was great and I can't wait to do it again."
