A PENSIONER has branded Bromley Council “ridiculous” after binmen failed to take his rubbish — even though it was left just a few feet inside his gate.
Ben Benton, 81, of Morston Gardens, Mottingham, said: “I could not believe it. “I know the council has new rules on this but common sense must play a part. This type of aggravation is the last thing I need at my age. “I have had to ring the council several times over this.
“It is ridiculous. My rubbish bins are not more than three feet from the front gate but they did not take it. If I leave it by my gate I can’t get out.” A Bromley Council spokesman said there were no complaints logged about the matter since April 10 and promised a waste advisor would check the site.
He said: “We have put out a lot of communication on this and we do want to get this right. We do need people to contact us, then we can solve any problems.
“We ask people to put their waste out where their property meets the pavement. To help people, it could be three feet away, as long as the binmen could get it without walking up the drive.” l Do you have a problem with rubbish collection? Write to newsshopper_letters @london.newsquest.co.uk
