HOSPICE DONATION: A race night organised by a Beckenham bookies raised £1,000 for the Demelza House Children’s Hospice. More than 80 people attended the evening, held at the Foxgrove Club, Westgate Road, Beckenham. The event was set up and hosted by College Racing, Eden Park, Beckenham. A spokesman said: “There was a great atmosphere, with lots of cheering. Thanks to everyone who took part.”

MUSICAL EVENINGS: Music and dance is coming to Bromley this spring with the Magic of Music Group. Every Wednesday at Community House, South Street, Bromley, between 6.45pm and 9.45pm, members are invited to listen to music, dance and socialise. BATTY GOINGS ON: The Kent Group is offering people the chance to visit the Westerham Mines Bat Reserve to see where bats spend their winter. A guided tour of the mine, which is managed by the Kent Wildlife Trust, will be held between noon and 5pm on Sunday. The event will also offer displays and refreshments.

RESEARCH CASH: Staff from Bromley High School for Girls raised more than £3,000 for breast cancer research by showing their bras on a sponsored walk. The staff wore decorated bras over their t-shirts as part of a national fundraising event. The school’s deputy headteacher, Jenny Butler, thanked everyone who supported the fundraiser.
