A BOGUS caller who said he was from the council stole £130 cash from a pensioner’s handbag.
The 84-year-old woman let the man into her flat in Meadowside after asking if he was the man she was expecting from Dartford Council to help her complete a form.
He snatched the cash from her bag while the woman was out of the room looking for the paperwork.
The man is described as in his mid-20s, 5ft 8in tall, stocky with short, straight ginger hair.
A north Kent police spokesman said: “The woman is very shaken and confused by what happened.” Anyone with information on this incident, which happened between 9.30am and 11am on May 20, should call 01322 283154 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
