I hope it is not too late to respond to a letter in your June 17 edition `Traffic Wardens using common sense".

It is a pity the writer is totally lacking in knowledge of the law, that is, it is illegal to park with any part of a vehicle on a grass verge or public footpath, except at designated sites - which are always clearly marked.

The mayhem created by car owners attending the soccer tournament was unbelievable.

Buses could not get through Dunkery Road and some cars in side roads were not only double, but even treble parked, and even blocked residents' driveways.

This annual event is dreaded by local residents and we were delighted to get some support this year from parking wardens to try and sort some of the chaos. To add fuel to the fire, two free car parks in Mottingham Sports Field, for more than 150 cars, and within eyeshot of these car owners, were almost empty.
