A MAN who caused havoc when he tried to rob an off-licence is being hunted by police.
The man turned up at Threshers, in Nuxley Road, Belvedere, just after 9pm on August 19, while a 26-year-old Erith woman was behind the counter and a second woman was in the back of the shop, cashing up.
The assistant described him as looking like a tramp and said he looked her up and down “like a pervert” before making derogatory remarks about her and asking for some cigarettes.
She was frightened and thought he was going to pull out a knife, so she screamed for help.
The man grabbed two bottles of wine and threw them towards the till, before snatching some cigarettes from the counter.
A passer-by who heard the screams came to the rescue. A scuffle broke out and a wine display of about 50 bottles was smashed. The man then fled towards Woolwich Road. If you recognise him, call DC Garth Phillpotts at Bexleyheath CID on 020 8284 9135/6.
