Is it any surprise Dartford Borough Council chiefs continue to upset the residents of the borough on the issue of Ebbsfleet International Station?
It is now quite clear the people of the Swanscombe and Southfleet areas do not have a say in significant developments such as Ebbsfleet. No wonder both villages have for years tried to leave Dartford and join Gravesham.
Any Dartford councillor worth their salt would acknowledge the historical significance of the Ebbsfleet Valley.
Kent Thameside or Kent Thames-side choose a spelling is an empty yet confusing term.
As far as Ebbsfleet Valley is concerned, the reality is the general public shall always perceive they are in the Gravesend environs, no matter what Dartford Council believes or thinks.
It is by far the largest town in Northwest Kent and the Northfleet and Springhead areas jut into the valley itself.
Ebbsfleet is an apt name for the station and perhaps Gravesend is too.
However, if Gravesham and Dartford borough councils believe in fair play and democracy, then let the residents of both boroughs have a say in deciding the international station's name.
Associated businesses and developments surrounding the station shall happen irrespective of the station's name.
