ARMED police swarmed over a Penge boozer and seized four guns as horrified punters looked on.
Regulars nearly dropped their pints when police officers clad in bullet-proof vests and carrying shields descended on their favourite local, The Hop House, in Maple Road.
Flying Squad officers armed with a search warrant raided the premises on April 9 at around 3pm and found four weapons prohibited under the Firearms Act.
Eyewitness Roy Bish, 59, of Pawleyne Close, Penge, told News Shopper he was shocked by the scale of the police operation.
Mr Bish said: "It looked like a siege, they had cordoned off several roads and there were lots of armed officers all over the place wearing bullet-proof vests and shields.
"Then about eight of them walked this guy out of the pub, across the square, and arrested him."
A 40-year-old man was arrested at the scene and was later released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Nobody has been charged in connection with the incident.
