A DNA sample on a cigarette butt placed a young offender in a stolen car, a court heard.
Nicky Gale, 18, was released from a young offenders' institute on Friday, September 7 and appeared before Dartford magistrates four days later charged with being driven in a car he knew was stolen.
The court heard the owner of the T-reg Vauxhall Corsa actually witnessed two other youths take his keys and drive off.
Gale, of Sycamore Road, admitted being in the car after fingerprints and DNA evidence was found.
Magistrate William Abbott adjourned the case for reports before sentencing.
