A KEEN cyclist from Chislehurst has organised a sponsored cycle ride with a difference.
No highways, by-ways or cycling paths for her. She has chosen to cycle the Great Wall of China.
Maria Lawrance, 20, of Elmstead Avenue, is undertaking the 270-mile cycle ride on June 23 to raise money for the Arthritis Research Campaign and is now looking for sponsorship.
Miss Lawrance, who works in a pharmacy, explained she chose the charity because her father suffers from the crippling disease.
She said: “My dad had to retire early because of arthritis in his knee and there's a lot of people who suffer from it in my family.”
She added she is looking forward to the challenge which has to be completed in five days.
She said: “I've been training since February but there's a lot more to do.”
Miss Lawrance has already raised £1,500 towards the trip and needs another £500 which she is hoping to get from sponsorship.
If you would like to sponsor her, call 020-8857-2250.
