LONGFIELD HILL WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
The snowy weather in January meant our meeting had to be cancelled, so members were especially please that this month it was a cold but sunny day. Many had been able to meet at the coffee morning on January 30, which was very well supported and raised over £90 for our funds. Further fund-raising events were discussed.
The presidents warmly welcomed five visitors and new members, four of whom were from Langafel WI, which sadly had closed recently.
The speakers Mr Chris Bradshaw, gave an interesting talk, with slides, on bird watching in Kent, mostly on the coasts and it was surprising to see the large variety of species visiting our shores. For obvious reasons, Mr Bradshaw made a plea for members to support the campaign against an airport at Cliffe, which would be a terrible disaster for these wonderful birds.
Our March meeting will include a Birthday Lunch and Mr Tony Western will give us "A Lighthearted look at Conjuring".
