A free film festival will return to south London next month with a series of screenings and events.

The Peckham & Nunhead Free Film Festival 2026 will run for ten days from Friday, September 4 to Sunday, September 13 and marks the festival's 17th edition.

Organisers have announced a programme of 15 screenings and events across the SE15 area. Although all screenings are free, organisers have warned that booking arrangements vary between venues.

Some events will require advanced registration, while others operate on a first come, first served basis, they said.

The opening night will feature a 40th anniversary screening of David Lynch's 1986 thriller Blue Velvet at Peckhamplex on Friday, September 4.

Nunhead Cemetery is also set to host a night-time screening of The Blair Witch Project during the festival.

Organisers say the venue has previously been used by the Free Film Festivals network, although attendees are advised to check the event listing for the confirmed date and timings.

Festival-goers are encouraged to check individual event listings before attending to confirm screening times, booking requirements, accessibility information and any last-minute changes.

For events operating without advanced booking, organisers advise arriving 30 to 45 minutes before the advertised start time, particularly for popular screenings at venues including Peckhamplex and Nunhead Cemetery.
