A man has been jailed for 20 years after a violent and sustained sexual assault in Gravesend.

Louis Taylor, 32, was sentenced at Woolwich Crown Court on Friday, August 21, 2026, after pleading guilty to eight offences, including three counts of rape, wounding with intent, assault by penetration, burglary with intent to inflict grievous bodily harm, attempted grievous bodily harm, and kidnapping.

The attack took place on Saturday, October 18, 2025, and involved extreme violence and sexual assault.

Detective Constable Rachel Ford said: "Taylor’s horrific offending clearly shows how he is a serious danger to women and to society as a whole.

"The severity of his sentence reflects that of his crimes as well as the trauma he has caused his victim.

"The judge commended the victim's bravery, and she has shown immense courage in providing key evidence which enabled justice to be served.

"Kent Police is committed to ensuring all victims of violence against women and girls receive vital support and we will always seek to hold offenders to account.

"In this case I am satisfied Taylor is behind bars where he cannot continue to cause any further harm like that of which he has already inflicted."

The victim managed to escape and raise the alarm at a petrol station on City Way in Rochester, where she asked members of the public to call police.

Officers attended the scene and took her into their care.

She told police that Taylor had dragged her by the hair and neck, kicked her repeatedly while wearing steel toe-capped boots, punched her, and struck her with a hoover pole.

He then sexually assaulted and raped her before forcing her into a car and threatening to harm her if she made a sound.

Taylor was arrested the same day.

While in custody, further offences came to light, including a previous rape and assault.

He has been placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
