Sixty-eight affordable homes for Bromley residents are taking shape in St Paul’s Cray, with most set to be offered at social rent.
The £29m development on the Bellegrove site next to St Paul’s Cray Library has reached a major construction milestone, with the first section of the ground floor slab now poured and pile foundations progressing.
The one, two, and three-bedroom homes will be offered to residents on Bromley’s housing register, with the majority expected to be social rent properties.
Social rent is set at around 50 per cent of local market rent.

The development is part of Bromley Council’s ‘Bromley Homes for Bromley People’ programme, which aims to provide affordable housing for residents on the borough’s housing register.
Construction began following demolition works at the site, with the concrete frame expected to start rising from the ground in the coming months.
The homes are expected to be completed by late 2027.
The development will include wheelchair-accessible and supported living homes alongside the one, two, and three-bedroom properties.
It will also feature car and cycle parking, improved landscaping, and a corridor of green space running through the site towards Hoblingwell Wood Recreation Ground.
Local children’s play facilities will also be enhanced as part of the project. The works are being carried out by Bromley Council’s partner contractor, The Hill Group.
Councillor Yvonne Bear, Bromley’s Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation, and Housing, recently visited the site to mark the completion of the first phase of foundation works.
She said: "This is welcome progress as we continue to move at pace to deliver a number of affordable housing developments on brownfield sites across the borough.
"This is important for supporting the local housing supply in Orpington and for securing the homes we need to house our residents who are facing homelessness, which also helps to reduce costs for council taxpayers.”

The Bellegrove development is the eighth site to receive planning approval under the Bromley Homes for Bromley People programme. It is being supported by £14m from the Greater London Authority.
The council says it is continuing to look for further housing sites across the borough as it seeks to meet local housing demand and reduce spending on temporary accommodation.
More than 1,300 households are currently in expensive nightly-paid accommodation, according to the council.
The Bromley Homes for Bromley People programme provides homes for residents on the housing register at social and affordable rent levels.
Affordable rent properties are set at 80 per cent of local market rent or lower.
The council says building homes at these rent levels allows it to make use of available land and access grant funding opportunities.
