A trackside fire damaged garden property after igniting from sparks caused by a passing train in Lewisham.
The fire broke out near Morley Road around 8.26pm last night (August 9) along the railway track and was reported at least 22 times.
Around 25 firefighters were dispatched to the scene in four fire engines, where a shed, fence panels, and garden furniture were found to be suffering fire damage.
The fire is believed to have been started by sparks from a passing train which ignited dry vegetation by the side of the railway line.
Crews brought the blaze under control just over an hour later at 9.48pm.
The brigade has issued advice to people on how they can keep their properties and gardens safe from similar fires.
Advice includes keeping grass below 7cm, trimming trees and shrubs close to homes, disposing correctly of garden waste, and clearing away flammable debris.
For those with compost heaps, these should be kept moist, be a balance of green and brown materials, and be turned to help dissipate heat.
