Gravesend has been named one of Britain's fastest-rising “hidden gem” destinations after a surge in visitors discovered what the Kent town has to offer.
New data from rail booking platform TrainPal shows demand for journeys to Gravesend has more than doubled in the last six months, placing it among the UK locations seeing the biggest growth in travel interest.
While it may be smaller than many of the country’s better-known tourist destinations, the town’s mix of history, culture, riverside attractions and easy rail connections is helping it attract a growing number of visitors.
The Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara, one of Europe's largest Sikh temples, along with historic sites such as New Tavern Fort and the town's Thames-side location, are increasingly drawing visitors.

According to Alvaro Ungurean, European Commercial Director at TrainPal, experience-led travel is fuelling this trend.
He said: "The latest booking trends show that travellers are increasingly prioritising destinations that offer memorable experiences, easy accessibility, and a strong sense of place.
"Rail continues to play a key role in that shift. The data highlights a growing willingness among travellers to explore new places and revisit destinations they may not have previously considered.
"Whether it's for a cultural day out, a food-focused weekend, outdoor adventures, or visiting friends and family, we're seeing strong growth across a wide range of destinations.
"It's an encouraging sign for regional tourism and for the future of domestic rail travel."
TrainPal's findings reveal that UK travel habits continue to evolve, with consumers increasingly favouring flexible journeys and discovering destinations closer to home.
