Crayford High Street will be closed to traffic until this coming weekend following damage caused in the area.
The expected time for reopening is now set for Monday, July 20, as Thames Water teams continue repair and reinstatement work.
A damaged water pipe triggered the closure and engineers had to secure clearance from a local utility company due to a nearby gas pipe, allowing for safe excavation and prompt repair work.
By July 11, water supplies were restored.
Initially, the estimated closure timeframe was set at least another week as the road surface needed time to fully set before reinstatement could be completed.
A week later, an update was shared at 5.30pm on July 15, stating that repair works were ongoing and anticipated to be completed by "the morning of Monday 20 July".
This includes full repairs and the reinstatement of "the damage caused to the road and area".
A Thames Water spokesperson said: "Our teams are continuing to make right the damage caused to the road and area, we anticipate completing the reinstatement and the road being opened no later than the morning of Monday 20 July."
A further update on the progress of the repairs is expected by "Saturday 18 July".
So far, the water main burst has affected areas with the DA1, DA6 and DA7 postcodes.
