A leisure centre in Orpington is set to open its doors next month after delays to the refurbishment.
The Walnuts Leisure Centre will officially re-open on July 2 following an extensive £17 million refurbishment funded by Bromley Council.
The project, which started in November 2025, faced delays after additional construction work, including repaving the concourse, which added to the original refurbishment programme.
Councillor Yvonne Bear, Bromley’s executive councillor for renewal, recreation and housing, said: "The stage is now set to reveal the incredible transformation of this much-loved leisure centre, funded and delivered by Bromley Council.
"We know how eager residents are to return and we have been doing all we can to complete this huge investment in the borough’s leisure provision as soon as possible.

"Residents will be able to enjoy the state-of-the-art facilities over the summer and long into the future, thanks to a whole host of works completed behind-the-scenes to secure this centre for Orpington."
The Mayor of Bromley is scheduled to officially re-open the centre with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at midday on July 2.
Reopening celebrations will take place throughout Orpington town centre, including sport-related activities, refreshments, and entertainment organised by Orpington 1st BID.
Additional activities will be held at Orpington Library on the day and across the following weekend.
Residents will be able to tour the refurbished centre, and public use will resume from 2pm.
Activities and classes will be available to book in the usual way in due course via Mytime Active.

The revamped centre now features a competition-length swimming pool and training pool, expanded two-level gym, smart strength training equipment, new sauna and steam room, and a refreshed cafe and reception area.
