A street food market in Lewisham is set to make a comeback as a social and cultural hub.
Model Market in Lewisham will reopen in late summer 2026 under the management of German Kraft Brewery, a craft beer brand.
The relaunched site will offer all-day programming, evolving from morning coffee and coworking to micro-dining, creative retail, and evening programming.

Felix Bollen, co-founder of German Kraft and MOSAIK, said: "We’re excited to bring Model Market back to life as a next-generation social destination for Lewisham, a place that feels open, dynamic and deeply connected to the local community.
"We’ll be continuing the community social hub we ran in Elephant & Castle over the last nine years."
German Kraft will curate the street food traders and oversee all other programming at the venue.
The brewery was originally founded in 2017 at Mercato Metropolitano in Elephant and Castle.
The Lewisham site will offer a social, community-led taproom atmosphere alongside curated street food and cultural events.
Model Market will also feature live DJ sets, diverse music, pop-ups, events, and cultural programming that celebrate the intersection of food, art, and community.
The space is being reimagined with nods to its original 1950s market heritage.
The project aims to support job creation and attract small-scale traders, while reinforcing Lewisham Shopping Centre’s role as a community hub.
Paul Redden, centre director at Lewisham Shopping Centre, said: "We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with German Kraft to bring the new Model Market to Lewisham.
"German Kraft’s proven track record operating vibrant, successful venues means they know how to create an environment that’s welcoming, energetic, and full of character. We can’t wait to see it all come to life when the Model Market officially opens."
Further details about traders will be announced in due course. More information is available at www.modelmarket.london and www.germankraft.com.
