A new mayor has taken office in Bexley.
Cllr Lisa-Jane Moore, who represents Longlands ward, was formally appointed as the 62nd mayor of the London Borough of Bexley during the council’s annual meeting on May 27.
Originally from the Eastern Cape in South Africa, Cllr Moore moved to London in 1997 and settled in Sidcup in 2003. She has lived in Longlands ward ever since.

Cllr Moore said: "I am proud to serve as the mayor of Bexley. This borough has been my home for over two decades and I am committed to working tirelessly to support and uplift our residents. Together, we can achieve great things for Bexley."
She was first elected to Bexley Council in 2021 and has served on several key committees, including adult social care and health and children’s services and education.
She chaired the children’s services scrutiny committee for three years, focusing on special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) provision and foster carer recruitment.
In 2024 to 2025, she became deputy mayor.
Professionally, Cllr Moore has built a career in communications, mainly in the public sector. Her experience includes work on the London 2012 Olympic Games, Millennium Bug preparations, and supporting NHS communications during the Covid-19 pandemic.
She and her husband Justin, who serves as her consort, are parents to twins and enjoy running in their spare time.
During her mayoral year, Cllr Moore will raise funds for three charities: Crossroads Care South East London, children’s charity Truly Beloved, and Diabetes UK Bexley.
Crossroads Care supports unpaid carers, parent carers, and older people across the borough, helping them remain connected and independent.
Truly Beloved, based in Belvedere, supports children with disabilities and special educational needs.
Diabetes UK Bexley is a self-funded group that supports residents living with diabetes.
Cllr Moore has named Cllr Frazer Brooks, who represents Blackfen and Lamorbey ward, as her deputy mayor.
Allison Hartshorn will serve as deputy mayoress.
