Road closures and traffic restrictions are set to come into force in West Wickham next week, according to the Public Notice Portal.

The measures will support cable works on Linden Leas and Rose Walk in West Wickham, where Rock Power Connections Ltd will be excavating, laying, and connecting new electrical cables for a fresh power connection.

Under the upcoming traffic order, no vehicles will be permitted to wait or proceed on the affected roads while works are underway.

The only exception will be vehicles directly involved in the works or under the direction of a police or civil enforcement officer.

The order will come into effect on May 6, 2026, with no specified finish date.

The maximum duration of the order is 18 months.

Works will begin on or after the commencement date of the order.

Although there is no confirmed end date, the order will remain valid for up to 18 months from the start date, which is intended to allow for any unforeseen delays or complications during construction.

Traffic diversions will be put in place on nearby roads as necessary, and one-way systems may also be implemented to manage displaced vehicles.

Cul-de-sacs will be exempt from full road closures, though restrictions may still apply.

Bromley Council has emphasised that these prohibitions will only be active when and where indicated by traffic signage, in accordance with the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2016.

Access to residential properties will be maintained wherever possible from either end of the closure.

Emergency vehicles will be allowed through at all times to ensure that ambulance, fire, and police services are not impeded.

Vehicles parked in violation of the temporary restrictions may be subject to removal under the Removal and Disposal of Vehicles Regulations 1986, or by the council using its own powers.

The council has clarified that the order does not apply to vehicles being used as part of the works or to actions taken with the direction or permission of a police officer in uniform or a civil enforcement officer.

Residents who have questions about the works are encouraged to contact the council’s environmental services department (street services section) on 020 8461 7507.

The traffic order is issued under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, Section 14(1)(c).
