Five men have been convicted of murder following a brutal and fatal stabbing in Walworth.
Giovanny Rendon Bedoya, 21, was killed in Walworth in April 2025 following a rise in tensions between two groups.
Following an 11-week trial, a jury at the Old Bailey found all five defendants guilty of murder on Tuesday, April 14.
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, who led the investigation, said: "This was a sustained and extremely violent attack, carried out by a group acting together.
"Giovanny was chased and killed in brutal circumstances, and today’s convictions reflect the strength of the evidence and the determination of the investigation team.
"Our thoughts remain with Giovanny’s family and loved ones, who have shown immense dignity throughout these proceedings.
"Such brutality has no place on our streets – it rips families and communities apart.
"That’s why the Met is doing everything it can to target dangerous offenders and prevent senseless violence."
Those convicted of murder are:
- Joseph Jimenez, 22, of no fixed address
- Angel Gonzalez Angulo, 19, of Camberwell Church Street, SE5
- Bryan Villada Hernandez, 20, of Langdale Close, SE17
- Zozoro Mohamed Olivier Boizo, 21, of Lorrimore Square, SE17
- Christian Batista Gonzalez, 22, of Moyers Road, E10.
Police were called at 9.16pm on Monday, April 14, to reports of a group fighting with knives near Hillingdon Street and Langdale Close in Walworth.
Officers found Mr Bedoya behind residential flats on Hillingdon Street with multiple stab wounds.
He was pronounced dead at 10.07pm.
A post-mortem examination confirmed that he died from multiple sharp-force injuries.
Investigations revealed that Mr Bedoya had been chased through an alleyway before being cornered and fatally attacked.
Bryan Villada Hernandez was arrested at the scene.
Forensic analysis later found the victim’s blood on his tracksuit, along with evidence of knife contact.
Messages on his phone showed discussions about destroying evidence and concerns over police activity.
Detectives reviewed more than 1,500 hours of CCTV footage during the investigation.
This included vital images from nearby properties, which helped establish that a squat was being used at a residential address on Langdale Close.
After the stabbing, Angulo and Boizo were seen fleeing the property.
They took a taxi to a friend’s home, where CCTV later captured Angulo changing clothes and carrying a bin bag.
Prosecutors said this was the disposal of blood-stained items and weapons.
Christian Batista Gonzalez fled the UK and was arrested near Barcelona on May 19, 2025.
He was later extradited to the UK.
Joseph Jimenez was arrested in Chichester after fleeing London.
All five men are due to be sentenced at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, May 20.
