Deptford stabbing: Man charged with New Year’s Eve ‘murder’

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a man was stabbed to death on New Year’s Eve in Deptford.

John Temitope Onetufo was stabbed in the chest on Grove Street at around 12.35pm on December 31.

The 23-year-old died at the scene.

The boy, who cannot be named because of his age, was charged with murder today (December 5). 

He will appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Youth Court on the same day.

Along with the 17-year-old boy, a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder on January 2. He has been bailed while enquiries continue.

An 18-year-old woman was also arrested on January 4 on suspicion of perverting the course of justice. She has also been bailed while enquiries continue.
