In 2022, Greenwich Council's planning committee gave the go ahead for industrial buildings and a church at 138-140 Nathan Way and 61 Kellner Road in West Thamesmead Business Park to be demolished.
These would have been replaced by new film studios, including sound stages and production workshops.
Following the demolition of the church in Kellner Road, a new community space would have been provided on the top floor of the new building.
However, on June 3, three years after planning approval was agreed, the film production company behind the plans, Helix 3D Ltd, has been told the development can no longer go ahead.
Greenwich Council said this was because a legal agreement with the developer covering financial contributions had not been finalised.
Helix 3D Ltd had originally agreed to pay £100,000 towards improvements to local roads, as well as further funding for the council’s carbon offsetting fund and employment training in the borough.
According to estate agents Kalmars, 138-140 Nathan Way is currently up for sale for £5 million.
The listing says that the property comprises a “self-contained purpose-built warehouse of masonry construction”.
