A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 60s died following a stabbing in Surrey Quays.
Police were called to Greenland Quay just before 3pm on Friday (November 29) to reports of a woman who had been stabbed.
Officers, along with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, attended the scene.
Despite their efforts, the woman was taken to hospital where she later died.
A 61-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and remains in police custody.
A murder investigation has since been launched by the Metropolitan Police.
Detective Chief Inspector Kate Blackburn, leading the investigation, said: "We received multiple calls from members of the public with concerns for the victim yesterday afternoon.
"Officers, together with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, responded quickly but sadly, the woman in her 60s died in hospital yesterday evening."
She added: "At this stage, we believe that this was an isolated incident and that the man and woman were known to each other.
"Our Specialist Crime Command is continuing their enquiries."

“Met officers were called shortly before 3pm to reports of a woman who had been stabbed inside an address.
“Officers supported the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance and the woman was taken to hospital where she sadly died.
“A 61-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.
