A popular food festival celebrating Black-owned food businesses is set to come to Woolwich this weekend.
Woolwich Works, a popular location within Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, will be hosting Black Eats Fest – a two-day festival running from Saturday, September 14 until Sunday, September 15 from 12pm to 4pm for families and 5pm-9pm for adults.
The festival is run by Black Eats, known as the UK’s “first and only” Black-owned restaurant directory, and will showcase a range of African and Caribbean dishes.
The festival has grown in popularity in Hackney over the past three years, with over 250,000 people attending, and this year it will be making its way south of the river to Woolwich.
Some of this year’s notable vendors will include SuyaPit and Jerk Village as well as vegan fare from The Guava Kitchen.
Anyone with a sweet tooth can also grab a dessert or tropical cocktails and juice bars at the dessert shop.
You can also get cocktails from the Havana club, who will be serving a rotating menu for each session using exotic flavours and ingredients.
Alongside food and drink, the space will also host an art gallery exhibition curated by Black Curational alongside artisan traders, beauty stalls and a bookshop, along with a line-up of live DJs over the weekend.
The event will also feature family-friendly entertainment during their day sessions, with face painting and activities.
Tickets start at £8.80 for children and £15.40 for adults, for daytime sessions between 12-4pm.
Evening sessions for adults over 18 will also be running from 5pm until 9pm, with tickets priced at £15.40 per person.
