Vintage steam buses are going to be passing through south east London this weekend – and we’ve rounded up everywhere you can see them.
To mark the 100th anniversary of Bromley Bus Garage this Saturday (September 14), as part of Heritage Open Days this month, vintage buses dating back to the 1950s will be touring around Bromley.
These buses, put on by the London Bus Museum, will mainly be the well-known RT-type, which was the largest standardised bus fleet in the world during the 1950s alongside its successor the Routemaster.
Alongside the RT-type buses there will also be a range of more modern buses over the years going up to the 1970s.
The buses will serve the 261 and 61 bus routes from parts of Lewisham, running to Bromley, Orpington and Chislehurst.
What you need to know
According to London Bus Museum, these bus trips will be free to the public with no need to book, and anyone looking to board one can simply request the bus to stop at any of the participating bus stops listed below.
The buses will run on Saturday (September 14), starting at 10am and running up until 5pm, and will also be accompanied by a special display of vintage buses and vehicles at Bromley Bus Garage put on by Stagecoach.
