A hiker from London who went missing in the Pyrenees mountains has been found dead, according to Spanish authorities.
The body of a 70-year-old man was discovered in the mountain range by a rescue team on Thursday at around 1pm.
He went missing after going for a walk on Monday which promoted a search and rescue operation.
The Spanish Civil Guard was contacted by Interpol's Manchester office with the coordinates of an electronic bracelet the man was wearing, as reported by the Mirror.
Interpol had concerns he could be either injured or lost.
The Civil Guard contacted the air unit and the hiker was transferred to a nearby mountain refuge.
A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who died in Spain and are in contact with the local authorities.”
