The Jolly Farmer is a warm, friendly pub on Lewisham High Street where bar staff know all of their regulars by name.

Asha, one of the bar staff, knows the pub’s regulars well since “it’s a real, locals pub”.

While the pub does host many weddings and sometimes funerals as well as it is close to a registry office and a church, its main clientele are the people of Lewisham.

Asha said: “It’s a real local pub and it’s a young pub on a Friday.

“It’s an old pub during the week and it’s a young pub on a Friday.

“We’re getting a new crowd of younger people coming in which is interesting.

“But it’s a very regulars pub.

“Of course we know all the customers by name, it’s the same customers all the time.

“Although we get the weddings from the registry office, we get a lot of that.

“But otherwise, it’s a real regular’s spot.”

The Jolly Farmer often runs pub quizzes and has a darts board for people to use.

There is a huge TV screen on the back wall so that people can enjoy watching sport here with Asha explaining that the pub’s regulars love the football and the rugby.

So naturally, the pub will be showing the Euros 2024.

The pub also has a beer garden in the back for anyone looking to enjoy their drinks outside this summer.

A feature that sets the Jolly Farmer apart is the colourful paintings on the wall showing scenes such as horses pulling hay bales or cows relaxing in a field.

When asked about the building the pub is based in, Asha added: “It’s a very old building.

“It’s been here a really long time, it’s changed hands a few times but ultimately people have been coming in for like 50 years.

“I think this used to be two bars originally and they’ve taken the wall down and made it one.
