A man has been arrested after two men were injured in a Lewisham stabbing.

Police were called to Lewisham High Street at shortly before 4.30am this morning (Sunday, May 26) to reports of an assault.

Emergency services found two men with injuries at the scene.

One of the men, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a stab wound in his arm.

His condition has been assessed as not life-threatening.

The other man was not seriously injured.

A 39-year-old man has been arrested at the scene on suspicion of GBH and remains in custody.

Enquiries are ongoing.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at approximately 04:25hrs on Sunday, 26 May to reports of an assault in Lewisham High Street, SE13.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found two men suffering injuries.

“One of the men, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital for treatment to a slash injury to his arm – his condition is not life threatening.

“The other man was not seriously injured.

“A 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of GBH and remains in custody.

“Enquiries into the circumstances continue.
