A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man he knew was stabbed in Charlton.

Police were called to a residential address in Kashmir Road at around 9am yesterday (Saturday, May 25) to reports of a stabbing.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital where his condition remains critical.

A man, 23, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and taken into custody at a south London police station.

At this stage, police have confirmed that no one else is sought in connection with the incident.

However, enquiries continue.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called shortly before 09:00hrs on Saturday, 25 May, to a man stabbed at a residential address in Kashmir Road, SE7.

“Officers attended along with LAS. A man, aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital. His condition has been assessed as critical.

“An investigation has been launched and a 23 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

“He has been taken into custody at a south London police station.

“Both men are known to each other.

“At this stage, nobody else is sought in connection with the incident, however enquiries continue to establish the circumstances.
