Lewisham Council has received an application to restore a Grade II listed pub and hotel in Grove Park.

Plans include the conversion of the first and second floor to 10 letting rooms, and a rebuild of the stable block to provide six letting rooms.

It also includes the demolition and rebuild of derelict sections, including extending the patio area, as well as internal and external alterations, with a single-storey kitchen extension and installation of associated extraction vents.

The Baring Hall Hotel closed during the Covid-19 lockdown and has avoided demolition and redevelopment over the years thanks to local campaigners.

Opened in 1882, the Baring Hall Hotel was part of a small group of public houses built in the 1880s and 1890s along "improved lines." These pubs are credited with influencing the design of modern pubs in the UK.

The application falls under the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure) (England) Order 2015 and Sections 67, 73, and 74 of the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990.
