A man has denied perverting the course of justice in relation to the killing of Bexley mum Leila Young.

Ms Young, 33, was found injured on Penhill Road in Bexley just after 4pm on January 16 this year.

She was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but died from her injuries on the evening of January 23.

Her partner Tony Curant, 33, of Penhill Road, is accused of murdering her.

On Friday (May 10) Richard Ray, 33, of St George’s Road in Swanley, appeared at court to answer charges of perverting the course of public justice.

He is accused of driving Curant from Sidcup to Dartford on January 16 to avoid detention of police after Ms Young was stabbed.

Ray is further accused of concealing three mobile phones.

Ray pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Curant is yet to enter a plea to the charge of murder but a trial for both defendants is provisionally scheduled to take in July.
