London Ambulance Service has issued a statement after a man fell from a height in Woolwich.

The incident happened in Calderwood Street just before 1.15pm yesterday (April 28).

Officers and London Ambulance Service and an air ambulance were called to the scene.

An ambulance crew, an incident response officer, and members of the Hazardous Area Response Team also attended.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after. 

Officers are working to notify his next of kin.

At this time, the incident is being treated as unexplained but there is no evidence to suggest suspicious circumstances.

A spokesperson for London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 1:11pm today (April 28) to reports of a person fallen from height in Woolwich, SE18.

“We sent resources to the scene including ambulance crews, an incident response officer and members of our Hazardous Area Response Team. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.

“Sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, a person died at the scene.”

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “Police were called at about 13:14hrs on Sunday, 28 April to reports of a man fallen from height on Calderwood Street, SE18.

“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended.

“The man, believed to be in his 50s, was sadly pronounced decease at the scene.

“Officers are working to notify his next of kin.

“Police cordons remain in place.

“At this time, the incident is being treated as unexplained but there is no evidence to suggest suspicious circumstances. Enquiries are ongoing.”
